Terms of Service

Plain terms for a simple deal: you write, we help, you stay the author. Here is what using Write Alongside means for both of us.

The service

Write Alongside is AI-assisted software for writing grant proposals. It reads the RFPs and documents you upload, checks your draft against them, and offers suggestions, reviews, and coaching while you write. It is operated by Grooms Meadow LLC, a New York limited liability company (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.

You are the author

Your content stays yours. You keep all rights to the proposals, documents, and text you bring or write. We never train AI models on your content and we never sell your data — the same promises as our privacy page.
AI output is a suggestion, not a fact. Everything the AI produces is a suggestion — nothing enters your proposal unless you write it in or ask for it. AI can be wrong — about requirements, numbers, and claims. You are responsible for reviewing what you submit to a funder, and for making sure it is accurate and truthful.
Disclosure is your call. Some funders ask about AI assistance. The authorship trail records how your proposal was written so you can answer honestly; whether and how to disclose is between you and your funder.

Your account

Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself and tell us if you think your account has been compromised. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the service. Accounts are for people, not for automated scraping or resale.

Plans & billing

Plans. Write Alongside offers a Free plan, the Pro subscription, and a one-time unlock that opens one proposal with no expiry (a second purchase for an already-unlocked proposal is refused at checkout — there is nothing to add). Authorship-trail share links created on an unlocked proposal stay live while the proposal stays in your account, so funders can verify the record at review time. Fair use. AI on Write Alongside is bounded, and the bounds are part of the deal. Each plan includes a daily AI allowance, sized for real writing, that resets at midnight UTC. Each proposal also has its own AI budget, which accumulates over the life of the proposal and does not reset — unlocking a proposal lifts the daily gate for it, and a larger AI budget applies from then on. New proposals are counted monthly: three a month on Free, and no monthly cap on Pro under fair use — at unusual volume we will invite a conversation about a team plan rather than surprise you with a wall. If you reach any of these bounds, the product tells you and shows where you stand.
Billing. Payments run through Stripe — we never see or store your full card details. Subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel (see Cancelling, below). Per-proposal unlocks are one-time payments, not subscriptions — nothing renews and nothing expires.
Cancelling. Cancel any time from the billing portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, then stops — no further charges.
Refunds.Ask within 14 days of a purchase and we'll refund it — unless the work is already delivered: a proposal that has been exported (the draft or its authorship trail) or that has used most of its AI allowance isn't refundable, because the thing you paid for has been done. When an unlock is refunded it is revoked right away, and any verification links from that proposal stop working. Subscription payments for a period you've already started aren't refunded — cancelling stops future charges instead (see Cancelling, above).
If a charge goes wrong. Double-charged, or paid and didn't get what you paid for? Email hello@writealongside.ai and we will make it right.
Price changes. If we change subscription prices, we will tell you ahead of time and the new price applies from your next billing period — never retroactively.

Acceptable use

Don't use Write Alongside to break the law, to misrepresent facts to funders, to probe or disrupt the service, or to resell access. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or other people — we'd rather warn you first, and will when we reasonably can.

What you can expect from us

We work to keep the service available and your work safe, but we can't promise zero downtime, and the service is provided “as is”.
We are not responsible for funding decisions. A grant depends on your project and your funder — no tool can promise an award, and we don't.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to the service is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Leaving, and your data

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time — email hello@writealongside.ai and we will delete your account and its data, and confirm when it's done. Deleting a proposal deletes the data tied to it.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will post the change here and update the date below before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law and venue: these terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and both sides consent to jurisdiction there.
